Our Story

sunny-fell began in 1998 when founder David Ellison converted a small warehouse in Collingwood into a furniture workshop. What started as a one-person operation crafting dining tables for local restaurants has grown into a respected manufacturing facility serving clients across Australia.

The philosophy that guided those early days remains unchanged: exceptional furniture comes from understanding both the material and the purpose it will serve. We do not simply build furniture; we create pieces that become part of daily life.

Our Approach

Every project begins with listening. We take time to understand not just what you want to create, but how it will be used, who will use it, and the space it will occupy. This understanding shapes every decision that follows.

Our team combines traditional joinery techniques with modern precision tools. Hand-cut dovetails sit alongside CNC-machined components. This blend of old and new allows us to achieve both the character of handmade furniture and the consistency that commercial projects demand.

Our Team

Our workshop employs twelve full-time craftspeople, including three who completed their apprenticeships with us. Combined, the team brings over 85 years of woodworking experience to every project.

We also collaborate regularly with local designers, upholsterers, and metalworkers, expanding what we can offer while supporting the broader Australian making community.
